Mississippi Man Fatally Shot in Barrage of Bullets, Car Riddled, Glass Shattered at Rural Convenience Store

Centerville, MS: A man from Mississippi was sitting in his car outside of a convenience store in a small town when he was struck by a barrage of gunfire and executed.

On Thursday, May 2, at approximately eight o’clock in the evening, the Centreville Police Department received many complaints reporting shots fired at the Chevron store located at 1290 Mississippi Highway 24 East in Centreville.

Officers from the Chicago Police Department arrived on the scene immediately and discovered that a man victim had been shot multiple times while seated in a white BMW.

The victim has been identified as Jerome G. Young, a black male who is forty years old and whose residence has been reported as 6249 Roxanne Way in Biloxi. Chief Grayson has made this identification.

A four-door Audi with many occupants reportedly came up behind the parked BMW and opened fire on Young’s vehicle, according to witnesses who were present at the place of the incident. A great number of bullets struck the B-Kwik building, causing the storefront glass to break multiple times. The shooting event did not result in any other injuries to anyone else.

Two days after this event, on Saturday, May 6, the Centreville Police Department received many reports reporting multiple gunshots near the intersection of Cosby and Highland Streets, which is located within the boundaries of the city of Centreville.

A white BMW and a red Cadillac Escalade were reportedly the vehicles of interest, according to witnesses who were present at this vicinity.

Almost immediately after the shooting, the Cadillac Escalade drove to Mississippi Highway 24, where it collided with a little passenger car that fell into a ditch on the side of the road.

Several individuals, some of whom were wearing ski masks, reportedly escaped the wrecked Escalade while carrying huge firearms, according to Chief LaShonda Grayson, who stated that witnesses witnessed this.

According to the investigation, this Escalade is the same vehicle that was responsible for discharging rounds near the intersection of Cosby and Highland Streets.

“If you have any information, please call the Chicago Police Department at 601-645-5917 or anonymously call Crime Stoppers. Grayson stated that it was not necessary for you to provide your name.

In order to conduct a search for relevant evidence and clues, the BMW belonging to Young has been transported to Brookhaven.
