Michigan Mom Pushed Daughter to Save Her from Out-of-Control Vehicle at Drag Race; Became Victim and Died after Fatal Crash
Tragedy struck at a drag racing event in Michigan as a brave mother sacrificed her own life to protect her 2-year-old daughter from an out-of-control vehicle, according to authorities.
Kadie Price, 33, attended the racing event held at the Silver Lake State Park Sand Dunes in Michigan’s western Oceana County.
A Jeep CJ lost control and veered out of the racing area, colliding with a stationary vehicle, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast. The vehicle collided with Price just moments after she had successfully moved her daughter to safety.
According to Mast, Charlie Price, who works as a deputy with the Kent County Sheriff’s Office in Grand Rapids, had a close call and was almost hit as well.
According to Mast, the driver of the Jeep has been cooperative and willingly underwent a blood draw. Investigators have also gathered reliable witness statements, photos from onlookers, and digital evidence, all of which will be submitted to prosecutors.
“Please keep the Price family in your thoughts,” Mast said.

Sgt. Joy Matthews, a colleague of Charlie Price, has organized a GiveSendGo fundraiser to honor Kadie’s life and her final act of heroism. The fundraiser aims to provide support for the children as they navigate life without her.
As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, a little over $60,000 has been donated. The entire amount raised will be directly allocated to the Price family, as stated on the fundraiser page.
“Our community is encouraged to come together and demonstrate unwavering support for the family,” states the fundraiser.
Silver Lake State Park Sand Dunes is a well-known spot for its expansive 450-acre off-road-vehicle area, located about 80 miles away from Grand Rapids.
