Miami Beach city appointee was ousted after allegedly sending antisemitic letters to city commissioners

Miami Beach, Florida – A Miami Beach city appointee to a government committee was dismissed after reportedly sending disturbing and antisemitic emails to city commissioners.

Johann Moore recently served on Miami Beach’s Sustainability Committee, where he influenced public policy and received city benefits.

Moore, however, was censured and removed from the committee after sending emails to a number of Miami Beach city commissioners.

“Truly a despicable and disgusting person,” Miami Beach Commissioner David Suarez declared. “He’s been loud like a barking dog.”

Moore, according to Suarez, sent emails congratulating Iran on its successful missile attacks against the Zionist authority. On June 13, I wrote to commissioners, the city’s mayor, and media outlets, urging Iran to nuke Zionist-held population centers [sic].

“The most disgusting antisemitic rhetoric that you can imagine,” Suarez described the emails.

The email also referred to “dirty bombs.”

“A dirty bomb, meaning nuclear bomb, to kill Jews,” said Suarez.

Moore was chastised for his emails during a recent commissioners’ meeting.

“We have zero tolerance for antisemitism,” Commissioner Laura Dominguez declared during the meeting.

At the meeting, Suarez chastised Dominguez for re-appointing Moore last year, despite sending similar emails in July 2024 asking “When will Palestinians target Zionist hospitals?”

Dominguez told 7News on Monday that he had been removed and she was ignorant of the previous emails.

“I removed him from the board.” “I denounced his remarks,” Dominguez added. “We receive approximately 150 emails per day, any given day. If I had seen that, I would have taken the same action that I did two weeks ago, when I removed him from the board.

When asked about the emails again by 7News reporter Sheldon Fox, Dominguez responded, “I wish my colleagues would’ve spoken up because he would’ve been removed earlier.”

7News attempted to interview Moore, but there was no answer when we called his South Beach home. In response to an interview request, Moore provided an opinion piece from the New York Times to 7News via email.
