Massive Drug Bust in Virginia, 47 Arrested with Narcotics, Guns and Cash in Operation Shockwave
Lynchburg, VA: Authorities have reported a significant drug operation in Lynchburg, leading to charges against 47 individuals.
The operation also resulted in the confiscation of numerous firearms and a substantial quantity of drugs, which could have had devastating consequences for over 200,000 individuals.
The Lynchburg Police Department has been planning “Operation Shockwave” since March 2023, collaborating with various law enforcement agencies for the operations. Authorities credited the collaboration of multiple law enforcement agencies for the discovery of a significant covert operation.
The LPD has been involved in various operations related to drug and gun activities, including undercover operations, search warrants, and interdictions of suppliers and couriers as per ABC13.
According to authorities, the estimated value of the narcotics is over $1.6 million, with the fentanyl posing a significant threat to public health.

“Operation Shockwave led to the combined seizure of 4.9 kilograms of fentanyl, over 48,000 pressed fentanyl pills, over 6 kilograms of cocaine, over 3.7 kilograms of methamphetamine, over 164 grams of heroin, and 40 firearms.”

According to the LPD, nine more individuals have been charged with various federal crimes, such as drug distribution, firearms trafficking, using firearms in connection with drug trafficking, and conspiring to distribute controlled substances.

“Operation Shockwave was a resounding success, showcasing the unwavering dedication of our local, state, and federal law enforcement personnel who partnered to address criminal behavior that threatened the well-being of our community,” Zuidema said. “We will continue to relentlessly pursue those who put the peace and security of our city at risk.”
