Marijuana & Gun Charges Against Former NBA Champion in Jackson County, Indiana
Jackson County, Indiana: Rajon Rondo, a former Kentucky and NBA star, was briefly incarcerated over the weekend following his arrest in southern Indiana.
As per court records, Rondo is facing charges related to the possession of a handgun, marijuana, and paraphernalia. All offenses are classified as misdemeanors.
Rondo was taken into custody on Sunday, according to jail records. He was set free upon posting bail.
Indiana State Police received a report of a Tesla driving in a reckless manner on I-65 in Bartholomew County. A state trooper spotted the vehicle and pulled it over for a traffic violation as it entered Jackson County.

Court documents reveal that dispatchers reported Rondo’s Tesla was traveling at a speed exceeding 100 mph, despite him not being in violation of speed limits at the time of the stop. The trooper also mentioned that his car was lacking a license plate.
Rondo was stopped by state police on southbound I-65 on Sunday afternoon. During the search, the trooper detected the scent of marijuana, which ultimately led to the discovery of a firearm and drug paraphernalia.
Rondo, who is 37 years old, is not allowed to possess a firearm due to a protective order in place, as stated by ISP. The order was issued on August 16, 2023. Rondo admitted in court documents that he was prohibited from possessing the firearm.
A juvenile who was in Rondo’s vehicle at the time has been released to a family member, according to the police.
Rondo excelled at the University of Kentucky and was selected as the 21st pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. He had a lengthy career in the NBA, concluding with his final season with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2022.
Throughout his NBA journey, he made his mark in various cities such as Boston, Dallas, Sacramento, Chicago, and both Los Angeles teams (Lakers and Clippers). The talented player achieved championship victories with the Celtics in 2008 and the Lakers in 2020.
