Man Shot Dead His Friend and Left his Kid inside Hot Car in Houston, Gets 6 Decades in Prison
Houston, TX: A Houston man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for the tragic incident involving his longtime friend and the unfortunate death of his friend’s toddler in a hot SUV, according to local authorities.
Bolanle Olayinka Fadairo, 40, pleaded guilty to two counts of murder right before his trial was scheduled to begin. This surprising turn of events brought a conclusion to a tragic case that deeply impacted the community.
As reported by the Houston Chronicle, Fadairo was found guilty of the murder of Michael Essien, a compassionate individual who had been helping him by offering odd jobs and even allowing him to use his home address for mail.
On September 20, 2022, a tragic incident unfolded outside Supermercados Teloloapan when Fadairo fatally shot Essien during a dispute over money. The entire incident was captured on surveillance footage. Essien’s 2-year-old son Micah was present in the back seat of the SUV.
After receiving a frantic call from Essien’s wife, the police finally initiated a search for the missing child. According to KHOU, the abandoned vehicle was discovered on a street just under two miles away from the crime scene, with the lifeless body of the toddler found inside.
“The family in this case lost a loving father and a little boy who was the most innocent, of victims,” Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said in a statement.
“We were ready to go to trial to seek justice and hold this killer accountable, and now he will be behind bars for decades and hopefully the rest of his life.”
Fadairo’s encounter with the law resulted in him being denied parole for a minimum of 30 years, with no opportunity to challenge his conviction or sentence. The incident highlights heart-wrenching tales of betrayal, where trust given was met with unimaginable brutality.
Assistant District Attorney Christopher Condon expressed the somberness of the outcome, stating, “This is a devastating tragedy, and while the plea agreement cannot undo the loss of Mike and Micah, we hope it brings some solace to the family as the legal proceedings come to a close,” Condon shared with KHOU.
