Man Shot Dead by Officers after Resisting Arrest and Reaching for His Weapon: Houston Police
Houston, TX- Police in Houston opened fire on a man they claim resisted arrest by reaching for his weapon.
Two female officers initially encountered an unidentified man, along with another individual, in front of a gas station and convenience store along Werner Street near I-45.
According to reports, the individuals were allegedly lingering near the premises while the establishment prominently displayed signs indicating restricted access.
During the arrest, the officers made a significant discovery – one of the individuals had outstanding warrants and was carrying a firearm in his belt.
“During the arrest, a female officer detected a weapon around the suspect’s waistband,” stated Assistant Chief Keith Seafous.
The man became aware that the officers were aware of his possession of a firearm.
“They began instructing him to remain still and place his hands behind his back,” During the incident, the suspect engaged in physical altercations with both of the females,” Seafous reported.
According to Seafous, a chaotic scene unfolded as everyone scrambled for the weapon, resulting in one of the officers firing a shot. He passed away at the hospital.
An investigation is underway into the shooting incident as reported by Click2Houston.
