Man Shot Dead by Childhood Friend, Visited the Victim after He served 17 years Prison Term in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, NV: Police in Las Vegas have reported that a man is facing an open murder charge following the alleged shooting death of his childhood friend at an apartment complex.
Shaun Lee, 52, was apprehended by Las Vegas police on April 14th, 2023, for allegedly participating in the fatal shooting that occurred in September of that year, on charges associated with open murder, according to documents.
On September 15, 2023, at around 12:10 a.m., an employee of a business near an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Searles Avenue reported a shooting incident to the police.
Near the parking lot, officers discovered Clayton Browne, the victim, lying wounded from multiple gunshots to the head and face. According to a declaration of warrant, investigators concluded that Browne had died at the site.
The worker informed authorities that he heard a woman scream, “No, please don’t,” just before the shooting, and then he heard two gunshots. The employee allegedly peered over a shared wall with the complex and witnessed the culprit fire another shot toward the ground, according to the police.

It was eventually revealed that the woman who was heard screaming was really Browne’s girlfriend. Her account with the police indicates that she and Browne were having dinner on the evening of the shooting when she went outside and spotted Lee, a childhood friend of his who had just been released from prison after serving 17 years, as per the statement.
After returning to the apartment, she informed Browne that Lee had gone seeking for him, prompting the two of them to go outdoors. As soon as they arrived at the parking lot, Lee took a handgun out of his pocket and shot Browne. According to the complaint, Browne’s girlfriend decided to return to the flat in order to dial 911 when she heard another gunshot.
Being childhood friends, Browne and Lee had spent the days preceding the shooting hanging around. They had gotten into an argument in the apartment complex on September 13th, and Lee stormed out in tears to see a friend. The cops say he was armed with a revolver when he got back.
For Browne’s apartment, Lee had a friend drop him off on September 14. The acquaintance got a call stating that Browne had been shot and murdered approximately ten minutes after he had left. Afterwards, the acquaintance allegedly contacted Lee, who requested to be collected from an adjacent apartment building.
On April 15, Lee was apprehended and transported to the Clark County Detention Center. He is expected to make an appearance in court on Wednesday.
