Man Sentenced for Alleged involvement in Human Trafficking for Sexual Exploitation in South Carolina; Minors also among Victims
Aaron T. Simmons, a 26-year-old resident of Greenville, South Carolina, has been handed a sentence of 365 months in prison, along with a lifetime of supervised release. This comes after Simmons pleaded guilty in November 2023 to charges of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, as well as sex trafficking of a minor.
A man has been charged with federal crimes for allegedly engaging in sex trafficking involving three women and a minor over a period of one year, as reported by the South Carolina district of the Department of Justice.
A federal grand jury in Florence has issued an indictment against Aaron T. Simmons, 26. The indictment includes charges of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, sex trafficking of a minor, interstate travel in aid of racketeering, and obstructing a sex trafficking investigation.
The case was investigated by the Greenville Police Department and the FBI Greenville Field Office.
As per the indictment, from August 2019 to August 2020, Simmons allegedly employed force, threats, and coercion to compel three adult women into participating in commercial sex. Simmons is also facing charges of sex trafficking involving a minor victim, according to the indictment.
In addition to the charges, Simmons is accused of impeding the investigation in November of 2021 by allegedly instructing one of the victims to provide false information to law enforcement regarding the crimes.
