Man Killed Pedestrians while Drunken Driving and Later Vandalized Victims’ Graves; Sent Shocking Digging Videos to Families in Florida

A man has been arrested after he vandalized the graves of two men he killed in a drunken driving crash. Tragedy struck in 2021 as four families were devastated by a horrific accident caused by a reckless driver. The lives of their loved ones were tragically cut short on New Year’s Day.

Shortly after the burial, just as the families were beginning to process their grief, Brian Rodriguez cruelly vandalized the tombstones of Andres Zacarias and Jenser Salazar, two of the four individuals tragically lost in the West Flagler crash.

Rodriguez, who captured video of himself vandalizing a gravesite and shared it with the families of the victims, has confessed to his actions. He has pleaded guilty to charges of trespassing, criminal mischief, and destroying a tomb.

A 27-year-old individual, who was potentially facing a lengthy prison sentence, has been sentenced to spend 30 days in a Miami-Dade County jail as reported by NBC Miami.

In addition to being sentenced to jail, Rodriguez, who showed no remorse in court, is required to write a letter of apology to the families he victimized. Judge Carmen R. Cabarga made it clear that the judge would intervene if the letter lacked sincerity.

Once released from jail, the defendant will undergo a period of four months of house arrest, followed by 20 months of probation. Rodriguez is required to complete 50 hours of community service and receive mental health support.

Judge Cabarga has also ruled that Rodriguez must compensate the victims with over a thousand dollars as restitution.

After causing a fatal crash, the driver, Alex Garcia, was sentenced to 14 years in prison for driving under the influence. Now, nearly a year later, a plea deal has been reached in this case.
