Man Killed and Chopped Grandmother after Prison Release in California; Ran Away with Her Head; Pleaded Guilty: Santa Rosa Authorities
A tragic incident unfolded in California as a man admitted to the heinous act of taking his grandmother’s life. The lifeless body of the grandmother found decapitated in her own home, was a shocking discovery made by a concerned friend in November 2023.
The horrific incident occurred on November 2 in Santa Rosa, California, where Elvia Lopez-Arroyo, 64, lost her life. The perpetrator was her grandson, Luis Gustavo Aroyo-Lopez, who had recently been released from state prison after serving time for assault and weapons possession.
Luis, who is now 24 years old, was immediately suspected by Santa Rosa police of committing a heinous crime. Authorities alleged that he carried out a deliberate and targeted attack on Elvia, before fleeing the scene with the victim’s head.
On Tuesday, Luis pleaded guilty to the murder of his grandmother.
On November 2, Santa Rosa police arrived at Elvia’s residence after receiving a report of a homicide. They discovered her lifeless body, which had been decapitated, according to a statement from the department.
According to a statement, Luis was arrested by San Francisco police on Nov. 4. He is now facing charges of murder and violating his post-release community supervision.
According to Jessica, a neighbor and friend of Elvia, Elvia’s body was discovered.
During an interview with the channel, Jessica mentioned that she observed Luis walking to the victim’s home on the day of the murder “at a normal pace.”
According to the neighbor, Elvia’s reaction to seeing Luis was one of surprise and happiness.
Shortly after, Jessica noticed a friend of Elvia’s frantically rushing in and out of the house.
Luis did not provide any explanation for his act of violence. According to the outlet, he is scheduled to appear in court again on June 27 for his sentencing.
