Man Crashed Mom’s Porsche which Killed His Friend in the Passenger Seat; Driver Arrested in Florida for Vehicular Homicide
Orlando, FL- A man from Florida was taken into custody on Monday, following a warrant, over a year after he was involved in a fatal sports car crash, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.
A 21-year-old man named Zachary Edward Kreusch from Winter Springs has been arrested and is now in custody at the Seminole County jail. He is facing a charge of vehicular homicide.
On May 16, 2023, authorities received a report of a single-vehicle accident involving a Porsche Boxster. The incident took place around 10:30 p.m. on Brumley Road near White Tail Trail, located east of Oviedo in Seminole County.
According to an FHP report, Kreusch contacted 911 to report the crash and provided statements to the dispatcher that seemed to suggest taking responsibility for the collision.
“I was driving my mom’s new car and my friend wanted to see how fast it could go. So, I started it down the road, and we lost control,” Kreusch told the 911 operator, according to the FHP report. “And, it went into the ditch, and it flipped, went over the fence and my friend is stuck, and he’s not breathing,” he added. “I think I just killed my friend.”
A recent investigation by the FHP uncovered that Kreusch was driving his car along Brumley Road in the westbound direction. However, he encountered difficulty in navigating a curve, causing his vehicle to veer off the road.
A sports car veered off the road, colliding with a tree and crashing into a fence. Following the crash, the authorities reported that the vehicle caught fire.
A tragic incident occurred as a young passenger, identified as Dylan Charles Astacio, 20, from Oviedo, lost their life at the scene.
When questioned by a deputy, Kreusch confirmed that he had been in the car with Astacio. I take full responsibility for what happened.
Kreusch spontaneously stated, “I’m the reason he’s f***ing dead,” and “I have his blood on my hands,” according to the report stated by Fox-35 News.
Based on the evidence found at the scene and the statements made by the individual to the 911 operator and responding deputy, FHP has concluded that Kreusch was driving the car in a manner that was deemed “willful and reckless.” As a result, he has been charged with vehicular homicide.
