Man Arrested with Over 27K Stolen Credit Card Details in North Carolina
Charlotte, NC: A suspect was apprehended by the authorities in North Carolina for allegedly stealing over 27,000 credit card numbers from various Walmart stores, according to legal documents The man was arrested and charged by the law enforcement agencies.
On April 10, a criminal complaint was filed against Romario Serban, accusing him of involvement in a fraudulent credit card skimming scheme that targeted 19 Walmart stores, mainly in New York.
More stores were found in New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts.
An individual has been accused of installing skimmer devices during a specific time period with the intention of unlawfully obtaining customers’ card information.
Walmart Global Investigators have reported a significant breach of customer payment information at their stores. During the time when skimmers were active, a total of 27,144 credit card numbers and 2,195 debit card numbers were compromised.
Debit cards were responsible for a significant amount of suspicious transactions, totaling at least $10,000.
An affidavit suggests that Serban may have been in the country without proper documentation.
