Man Arrested After Hot Police Chase; Crashed into another Car Seriously Injuring 4 Passengers
San Francisco, California: Police officers chased a suspect in his car around San Francisco last week, injuring five people.
The victims include a pedestrian and 4 passengers from another car. The SFPD briefed the public about this incident on Thursday.
According to SFPD spokesperson Robert Rueca, the pursuit started at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday when authorities saw a car involved in a prior hit-and-run crash and attempted to pull over the driver, who then sped away.
According to him, the chase started at Larkin and Hyde Streets, close to Civic Center Plaza. The suspect “sped off” and hit a car that was carrying three passengers before escaping again. During the collision, the victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Then, as the suspect kept eluding the police, the driver struck a pedestrian. The victim was rushed to the hospital.
The suspect was taken into custody for an outstanding arrest warrant connected to unlawful firearm possession. The alleged driver was arrested on Pennsylvania Avenue after the chase ended.
The authorities have not revealed the identity of the driver, and other details of the chase has not been released either. The driver was taken to the hospital for medical attention.
