Madison County Stand-Off Ends in Arrest After Suspect Fires on Deputies: Alabama Authorities

Madison County, AL – A man is in custody after allegedly opening fire on Madison County deputies early Tuesday morning.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Misty Hollow Way shortly after 6 a.m. following reports of multiple gunshots in a cul-de-sac.

Upon arrival, deputies heard ongoing gunfire. While attempting to locate the suspect, at least two deputies were fired upon, officials said. The deputies took cover and were able to track down the shooter, who ultimately surrendered without further incident.

Authorities recovered several firearms from the suspect, including a .223 rifle, a semi-automatic handgun, and two revolvers.

During the investigation, officials discovered that one of the bullets struck a neighboring home where residents were inside. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

“This is a prime example of the dangers that our deputies face daily while they strife to protect the community. I commend our deputies for their actions, and I ask everyone to thank a deputy when you see them for the selfless actions they take every day.”

– Sheriff Kevin Turner said.

The suspect was taken into custody and is facing multiple charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
