Miami Standard (Miami, FL) – Macy’s, one of America’s most well-known department store chains, is in the process of closing 150 stores as part of its strategy to improve long-term profitability. The company announced in February 2024 that it would shut down “underproductive” locations by 2026, with 66 stores already named for closure in January 2025.
These are the affected locations in Florida:

The list of affected stores includes locations in states such as New York, Florida, Arizona, and California, with some closures already completed or in progress. Macy’s stated that while these closures are necessary, it remains committed to investing in its remaining 350 stores across the U.S.
Clearance sales for the closing locations began in January and were expected to last between 8 to 12 weeks. However, the exact timeline for all closures remains uncertain.
Macy’s customers who are unsure whether their local store is still open can check the retailer’s website for updated store information.
This large-scale restructuring effort is part of Macy’s plan to return to “sustainable, profitable sales growth” in the coming years, with the company’s fiscal year extending until January 30, 2027.
