Luxury Apartment Meth Bust in New York; Manhattan Penthouse residents arrested
New York City, NY: The New York Police Department made a massive hit after the deputies busted 30 pounds of meth and 8 pounds of cocaine in a high-end Manhattan apartment.
Prosecutors said they found 30 pounds of meth and 8 pounds of cocaine in a high-end Manhattan apartment.
A 29-year-old guy named Jovanny Salas was observed exiting an apartment in Hell’s Kitchen as members of the New York Drug Enforcement Task Force were getting ready to search it, according to officials.
Salas was apprehended by authorities in the lobby of the building. It was then that they found the apartment key and the identification card of 34-year-old Sergio Betancourt Peralta, as reported by the authorities.
Afterwards, the flat was inspected by agents and officers, who reportedly seized the meth and cocaine. Authorities estimated the narcotics’ value at $1.1 million.
According to officials, $27,880 in cash, a Mexican passport belonging to Betancourt Peralta and an expired visa were also discovered. Salas’ voter registration, Colorado driver’s license, and U.S. passport were all discovered.
Prosecutors have charged the two men with illegally possessing a controlled drug. Court documents show that they were arraigned on Wednesday.
