Listeria Contamination in Trader Joe’s; Company Recalls Several Products Nationwide; See Complete List Here

Trader Joe’s in Monrovia, CA has issued a recall for specific products that contain cotija cheese due to a potential contamination of Listeria monocytogenes.

This bacteria can cause severe infections in vulnerable individuals, such as young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Even individuals in good health may experience temporary symptoms like a high fever, intense headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Pregnant women are at risk of experiencing miscarriage and stillbirths due to Listeria infection.

The products that have been recalled include all lots of the following items:

  • Trader Joe’s Chicken Enchiladas Verde (SKU 58292)
  • Trader Joe’s Cilantro Salad Dressing (SKU 36420)
  • Trader Joe’s Elote Chopped Salad Kit (SKU 74768)
  • Trader Joe’s Southwest Salad (SKU 56077)

The cotija cheese used to produce the products below was manufactured by Rizo-López Foods, Inc. RioLópez Foods has recently issued a recall for various dairy products, including cotija cheese, sold under different brand names.

Trader Joe’s is issuing a recall for all codes of the products mentioned below that were made with cotija cheese. The products that were recalled were available for purchase at Trader Joe’s stores across the country.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with these products so far.

If you have purchased any of these products, we kindly ask you to dispose of them or return them to any Trader Joe’s store for a complete refund.
