List of Restaurants Ordered Shut-Over Rodent Violations in Florida
Miami, FL: The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspected many kitchens and restaurants across Miami and found many food violations. Many of them were ordered to shut operations until the next inspection.
Here is the list of all the restaurants and kitchens that were ordered shut:
Nick’s Caribbean Restaurant – 14530 West Dixie Highway, North Miami Beach
Ordered Shut after 16 violations were found.
The presence of mouse droppings indicates the presence of rat activity. In the dry storage room adjacent to the kitchen, over 70 rodent droppings atop the shelves were noticed.
The presence of live roaches indicates the presence of roach activity. Found four live roaches on the shelves of the dry storage room and five more under the kitchen preparation table.
There are roaches on the property that have perished. Noticing around 12 lifeless roaches beneath the triple sink shelves, about 10 on top of the water heater, and about 8 under the kitchen preparation table.
Backup of sewage and other wastewater through floor drains. Noticed that the water draining from the three sinks in the kitchen was backing up into the room.
A black material, grease, or food debris has accumulated on the inside of the oven or microwave. Cooked to a crust.
Rust has scarred the surface of the walk-in cooler/freezer shelves. The walk-in racks corroded. Recurring Infraction.
On-site cooked food that has been sitting for more than 24 hours without adequate date marking is not safe to eat due to a lack of time/temperature control. Unlabeled and stored in a walk-in refrigerator for over 24 hours: cooked chicken, liver, and pork. Recurring Infraction.
The hand-wash sink does not have soap. Using a triple sink to wash one’s hands
Blu Bistro – 19 Sombrero Blvd, Marathon
Ordered shut after 18 violations were found.
The presence of mouse droppings indicates the presence of rat activity. In the triple sink area, fifteen mouse droppings on the dish machine, ten on the table and under the slicer, and five on the wood shelf above the food storage were found.
Extraneous objects and useless machinery on the property. Discarded utensils, filthy baking sheets, and cartons stashed outside the restaurant’s rear entrance.
The level of chlorine sanitizer in the dishwashing machine is too low. Until the dish machine is fixed and sanitizing correctly, stop using it for sanitizing and start using manual sanitization. No chlorine present in the dishwasher. Soap isn’t in the container.

Ordered Shut after 16 violations were discovered.
