Supernatural Food and Wine
The casual concept serves breakfast and lunch sandwiches, along with a few sides and salads, in a cramped area in downtown Tampa. There is some outside seating and a small counter inside. Breakfast patrons go to this cheery spot for the olive and feta sandwich—a toasted focaccia bun topped with black olive tapenade, a fried egg, crumbled feta, thinly sliced red onion, and roasted peppers—and the rest of the menu items that lift the spirits.
Prefer something sweet over something savory? Our freshly baked cinnamon sugar sour doughnuts are irresistible and go fast. At midday, you may have magnificent and robust dishes like turkey and cheddar melts with sweet bacon jam.
Ebbe
You won’t find a traditional Tampa restaurant at Chef Ebbe Vollmer’s eponymous downtown dwelling. It is ultra-focused on its one-tasting menu and has a sleek, modern design with a marble bar that forms a U shape. As a nod to the chef’s Swedish heritage, you’ll see touches of Scandinavian cuisine here; the cooking is assured and deft without being flashy.
Dishes such as the beet roulade topped with brown butter and black cherry sauce showcase artistic plating. Tender turbot is set atop a bed of sautéed spinach and fermented white asparagus beurre monté; a quenelle of sturgeon caviar brings the dish to life. There is no better combination of richness and tenderness than braised oxtail with seared foie gras and brunoise of sunchoke.
The Pearl
The Pearl is a mixed-use building in downtown Tampa’s Channelside neighborhood that features ample outdoor seating for warm days and nights. The interior is modern with nautical and nostalgic accents all over.
The seafood is the star of the show on the expansive American menu that features plenty of sharing dishes, but save room for dessert—the in-house pastry chef is in charge of the menu’s pie selection. Come have a good time and snack on some fried pickles with a cheesy sauce or some raw, baked, or fried oysters with your pals.
You can go all out with a seafood tower or keep it simple with fish and chips. You will crave their signature brown sugar pie with oatmeal cookie crust.
Kōsen
This exquisite restaurant takes a minimalist approach to decor, using a dark color palette instead of the standard blonde wood. Chef Wei Chen’s omakase is the highlight of this two-concept restaurant (Kō is a separate room for kaiseki).
Delicate sea bream wrapped around sprouts with shaved black truffle gives precise flavors, while tempura-fried kamasu served with myoga and chilled, roasted sweet eggplant is clever and right on. After a few items from the kitchen, they move on to the nigiri. There’s lots of theatrics and elegance, but the sushi is simple, such as the kinmedai, which is seared and served with a touch of lime.

Predalina
Predalina, located in downtown Tampa’s Channelside District, was developed by brothers Blake Casper and Allison Casper Adams to honor their great-grandmother’s coastal history.
The extensive menu pays homage to the Mediterranean, beginning with a diverse selection of mezzes (the scorched cauliflower covered by whipped tahini is a standout). Lunch has a variety of sandwiches and salads, while evening focuses on entrées and house-made pastas.
The tomato calamarata looks just like the calamari after which it is named, and it’s a filling dish with a chunky, herb-laced tomato sauce and exquisite kefalograviera, or Greek sheep’s milk cheese.
Streetlight Taco
The South Tampa taqueria is more stylish than the average one. The black-painted, exposed ducting, Mexican comic-laced tables, and open kitchen give this fast casual eatery a modern look, and the food isn’t lacking. House-nixtamalized heirloom corn is used in tacos, tostadas, salsas, sides, and more.
Don’t miss the Sunday snack tostada, two blue corn tostadas with cream cheese, lump crab, chopped sweet mango, and mango habanero sauce. The Japanese eggplant taco with heirloom bean puree and chile onza salsa is spicy enough. The bar is full, but strawberry horchata is great too.
Conclusion
