14-year-old Raped for Years, Judge Sentence Physical Castration and 50 years of Jail to Perpetrator in Louisiana

Springfield, LA: A man from Louisiana was given a physical castration and a fifty-year sentence for raping a fourteen-year-old girl. The sentencing came after he pleaded guilty to all the charges.

Glenn Sullivan, Sr., 54, of Springfield, entered a guilty plea on April 17th, accusing him of four counts of second-degree rape.

Perrilloux said in a statement that on Monday, Judge William Dykes sentenced Sullivan to fifty years in prison and ordered him to undergo physical castration as part of his plea agreement with prosecutors.

“I want to say I’ve had three people ordered to be chemically castrated but, to my knowledge, this is the first physical castration to be ordered,” said Assistant District Attorney Brad Cascio.

As per the statement, the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office initiated an inquiry in July 2022 subsequent to a young woman’s account to detectives that Sullivan subjected her to multiple rapes when she was 14 years old. The statement continues, “Subsequently, the adolescent became pregnant, and a DNA test ordered during the criminal investigation proved Sullivan had impregnated her.”

According to the statement, detectives additionally discovered that Sullivan had groomed the victim and threatened violence against her and her family in an effort to dissuade her from disclosing the assaults.

 “Sex crimes against juveniles are the most malicious crimes we prosecute. I intend on using every tool the legislature is willing to give us, including physical castration, to seek justice for the children in our community.”

said Assistant District Attorney Brad Cascio.

Court-mandated castration of men has the option between chemical castration and surgical testicular excision; Sullivan opted for the former, according to WBRZ.

“So many of these types of cases go unreported because of fear….The strength it must have taken for this young woman to tell the truth in the face of threats and adversity is truly incredible,” he later added.
