San Antonio, TX – Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Organized Crime deputies made a big narcotics bust while conducting a traffic check along Loop 410 South. The arrest happened on March 20, 2025.
The operation, part of an ongoing investigation, resulted in the arrest of two documented gang members and the recovery of a significant amount of narcotics.
Robert Gomez III, 34, was discovered in possession of four gallon-sized bags of crystal methamphetamine, a second bag containing a dark tar-like substance suspected of being heroin, and a.38 caliber revolver. He was taken into prison without incident.
Meanwhile, 42-year-old Juan Bustamante, who was seen leaving a house with a bag before meeting Gomez, attempted to leave when deputies arrived.
He was captured with the help of a K9 unit after throwing away a bag carrying eight more gallon-sized bags of crystal meth.
Further searches of Gomez’s home and business turned up a money counter and packaging supplies, indicating a large-scale narcotics trafficking operation.

Both suspects were booked at the Bexar County Jail. Gomez is charged with two counts of first-degree felony manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance weighing more than 400 grams, as well as Class A misdemeanor unauthorized carrying of a weapon. Bustamante was charged with a first-degree felony for making and supplying a restricted drug weighing more than 400 grams.
Deputies seized about 7 kilograms of crystal meth and 1 kilogram of heroin, with an estimated street value of $180,000.
