A 47-year-old man from Clinton has been sentenced to 255 years in prison following a guilty verdict from a Scott County jury. The charges against him include sexual abuse and distributing drugs to a minor, as stated in court records.

Daniel C. Jones has been convicted by a Scott County jury on multiple charges including prostitution, sexual exploitation of a minor, distributing drugs to a minor, lascivious acts with a child – fondling, lascivious acts with a child – solicitation, indecent contact with a child, and second-degree sexual abuse. According to court records, Jones has been sentenced to a total of 255 years in prison, with a mandatory minimum of 53 1/2 years before he may be eligible for parole.

According to arrest affidavits, police claim that Jones engaged in unlawful communication through SnapChat and in person, offering nicotine vaporizers, marijuana vaporizers, a cell phone, rides, and money as incentives to be alone with him. It was during these encounters that he allegedly sexually abused a 13-year-old.

Authorities claim that Jones is accused of illegally providing marijuana to a minor on December 26, 2022. According to affidavits, security video footage captured a dark-colored SUV, which matches the defendant’s black GMC Yukon, repeatedly passing by the victim’s residence on or around December 26, 2022, at approximately 11:11 PM.

The victim’s parents discovered the marijuana soon after it was delivered and promptly reached out to the Bettendorf Police Department around December 27, 2022 to surrender the drugs to the authorities. According to arrest affidavits, the victim was 14 years old.

According to affidavits, police have accused Jones of sexually abusing a 13-year-old at a residence in Davenport. It is alleged that Jones lured the victim under the pretense of giving them a tour. According to the police, during the incident, the victim repeatedly expressed her refusal and asked Jones to stop. However, he disregarded her pleas, attempting to convince her with phrases like “Come on,” “It will be fine,” and “No one will know.”

Authorities claim that Jones is accused of engaging in the illegal distribution of marijuana and drug paraphernalia to a minor, allegedly in exchange for explicit photographs on a regular basis. In a recent incident, a 16-year-old was apprehended by Bettendorf Police after receiving a delivery of drugs and paraphernalia from Jones. This occurred around February 20, 2023, when the authorities seized marijuana and related items.

In 2022, authorities claim that an incident took place in the back seat of Jones’ car while he was at a McDonald’s parking lot in Bettendorf, involving a 13-year-old victim. According to court records, despite the victim’s clear refusal and request to stop, the individual in question continued their actions.

According to authorities, Jones is accused of soliciting nude photographs from a minor and using threats against the victim’s family to coerce compliance. According to affidavits, in late 2022, at Veterans Memorial Park in Bettendorf, police claim that Jones displayed a black handgun to the juvenile victim. This caused the individual to feel a deep sense of fear for their own safety and the well-being of their loved ones.

According to court records, authorities have accused Jones of engaging in illegal activities involving a minor in 2023. It is alleged that Jones offered money to the victim in exchange for sexual services, with a payment of $300 being made.

Jones was found to have made various offers to the victim, including material items and services like money, nicotine vapes, assistance with rent, an iPhone, an iWatch, and hair extensions, as revealed in the text messages reported by QuadCities News.

According to affidavits, police claim that Jones organized a meeting with a victim in an empty Bettendorf apartment in January 2023. According to affidavits, he allegedly offered the victim money and marijuana as payment, along with material items in exchange for additional “services.”

According to court records, there were seven victims involved.
