Judge Sent Arkansas Teacher on Probation; Accused of Groping, Inappropriate Behavior and Sending Nude Photos to Students

Court documents reveal that a former Green Forest teacher, who was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a former student, has recently reached a plea agreement and received a sentence.

Dustin Lee, aged 46, has admitted to charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and endangering the welfare of a minor. The court imposed a one-year probationary period and a fine of $1,190.

Lee was taken into custody at his mother’s residence in Van Buren on January 9, 2023, and subsequently transferred to the Carroll County Jail on January 11, as stated in a news release by Green Forest Police Chief John Bailey.

A school resource officer from the Green Forest Police Department was contacted by the district superintendent for a meeting, according to a probable cause affidavit. An SRO discussed a concerning matter with the superintendent regarding messages exchanged between Lee and a student.

During an interview on January 6, 2023, the student confirmed that Lee was the sender of the messages.

According to her, Lee sent messages requesting her presence outside of class to meet in his classroom. In addition, he extended an invitation to treat the student to a meal, openly discussed his personal experiences, and shared explicit imagery.

During the interview, when questioned about any physical contact with Lee, she mentioned that he would sometimes lean on her and place his hand on her breast.

During a conversation with Lee on January 7, 2023, a detective obtained his admission of messaging the student. However, Lee denied sending the messages he was accused of as reported by KARK News.

Lee admitted to misusing a medication with side effects resembling those of Ambien, resulting in frequent memory lapses. Additionally, he confessed that he did not send a nude photo to the student.

During the interview, Lee apparently grabbed his phone and mentioned that he would present the messages to the police. However, he quickly set it aside, explaining that the battery was about to run out. When the detective informed Lee of their intention to confiscate the phone, Lee swiftly took hold of it and vehemently declared, “You will not be taking my phone.”

The affidavit stated that the detective was able to obtain the phone.

As part of the plea agreement, Lee has been instructed to avoid any contact with the student involved, refrain from committing any misdemeanor offenses, and stay away from any Arkansas schools that educate children from kindergarten through 12th grade.
