Job Crisis: Major Company Cuts Workforce in South Carolina, Layoffs Announced

A major company is preparing to terminate the employment of a significant number of workers at one of its prominent facilities in South Carolina by the end of the month.

206 workers at Charter Communications’ Greer site are set to lose their jobs on July 27. Charter Communications offers a range of spectrum services.

A spokesperson for the company stated that Charter had previously announced the termination of 74 workers from the same location as part of its “new, streamlined approach to some back office and management support functions.”

“There will be no impact on the local technicians who install our Spectrum products, make service calls, or who build, maintain, and upgrade our local networks,” the representative assured.

The nationwide telecommunications giant has recently announced several public notices regarding upcoming layoffs.

Last week, it was reported by CTInsider that Charter has plans to close five call centers and a support center. The call centers are located in California, Michigan, Minnesota, Texas, and Ohio, while the support center is located in Wisconsin.

A Charter Communications representative has stated that the layoffs in Greer were communicated to affected employees almost two months ago.

According to spokesperson Patti Michel, Charter has provided its employees with the opportunity to transition within the company, and it seems that a significant number of them have chosen to take advantage of this option.
