Jan. 6 Capitol Riot Offender & Former NYPD Officer Sentenced 22 Months in Federal Prison
Washington DC: Another Capitol Riot Offender received the sentence this week. Sara Carpenter received a sentence for her involvement in the attack and failed coup at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
U.S. District Chief Judge James E. Boasberg sentenced 54-year-old Richmond Hill, New York resident Sara Carpenter to 22 months in prison and 24 months on supervised release.
On March 9, 2023, a federal jury in the District of Columbia convicted Carpenter guilty of felonies, civil disruption, and obstructing an official action.
Additionally, Carpenter was found guilty of misdemeanor counts of disrupting or entering a restricted building or area, disorderly conduct in a building owned by the Capitol, obstructing traffic on Capitol property, and parading, picketing, or demonstrating inside the building.
Over 1,230 people have been charged in almost all 50 states for offenses linked to the breach of the U.S. Capitol in the 35 months since January 6, 2021. Of them, over 440 are accused of assaulting or obstructing law enforcement, which is a felony.
The investigation is still ongoing and many offenders are waiting for their verdict.
