Inmate Sent Threatening Message to Man in Florida; Charges Upgraded by Authorities after Probe
A new charge has been filed against an inmate at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. According to police, the inmate allegedly sent threatening messages to an individual’s Instagram account in southwest Miami-Dade last month.
A recent arrest report from the Miami-Dade Police Department reveals that Jovannie Castro, a 30-year-old resident of Florida City, has been charged with one count of written threats to kill or injure.
Officers from the Miami-Dade police swiftly responded to a call in the vicinity of the 29000 block of Southwest 149th Court. The victim had reported receiving alarming messages from Castro through Instagram at around 5 p.m. on June 26.
Detectives revealed that the victim presented screenshots of the messages, wherein Castro menacingly declared, “I will be the one to end your life.” They spray for the first time. I won’t go easy on you.
According to the report, Castro later stated, “No, I want your soul,” in a follow-up message.
Investigators have verified that the Instagram account in question is indeed owned by Castro, as evidenced by a profile picture showing Castro’s full body as a local news outlet reported.
The police report did not reveal any information about the connection between Castro and the victim.
Castro is still in custody at TGK on Wednesday following a previous violation of house arrest on an unrelated charge, according to jail records. The determination of his bond is still pending.
