Inmate Found Dead in Santa Clara County Main Jail

San Jose, CA: An individual detained at the Santa Clara County Main Jail Facility in San Jose was discovered unresponsive in their cell on Sunday morning. Tragically, they were later pronounced deceased at a hospital, according to authorities.

An unresponsive 58-year-old inmate was discovered by deputies at the jail in Santa Clara County on Sunday morning at approximately 10:28 a.m. According to the sheriff’s office, he was the sole occupant of that cell.

Deputies and medical staff swiftly initiated life-saving measures, including CPR, until medics arrived. The individual was then transported to a nearby hospital, where, unfortunately, they were pronounced dead at 11:24 a.m.

The sheriff’s detectives promptly arrived at the jail and conducted a preliminary investigation, which revealed no signs of foul play or any suspicious circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident, as stated by the sheriff’s office.

A man was taken into custody on January 6 by the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety for a suspected parole violation.

The sheriff’s office stated that they were adhering to standard procedures for an in-custody death. They initiated a collaborative investigation involving the sheriff’s office, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, and the county Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

The identity of the deceased inmate was not released until his family had been informed.
