A family in Texas had an unexpected encounter during their walk on June 15th. They stumbled upon an abandoned baby, which came as a complete surprise to them.

According to authorities, Daniela Fedele and her family opted for a morning stroll on Casa Martin Drive near Bear Creek in Katy.

While making their way back in the scorching weather, they noticed an object lying on the ground, appearing to be covered with a towel.

“I noticed two little feet moving and then my husband was right behind me with the dogs, and I yelled to my husband. I’m like, ‘Oh my God, a baby, a baby,’ ” Daniela Fedele said, KHOU 11 reports. “And then my husband’s like, ‘Call 911! Call 911!’ And that’s what we did.”

Without hesitation, her husband swiftly scooped up the baby from the ground as she urgently reached out for assistance.

A surveillance video captures the couple rushing towards a small white footbridge located near an open field, where the baby had been left.

They hurried to a nearby street and patiently awaited the arrival of first responders.

They found a premature infant girl, with her umbilical cord still attached, abandoned and wrapped in a blanket near a bayou. The baby has been taken to a hospital and is currently in stable condition.

According to Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Juan Garcia, the baby was born earlier today, as reported by PEOPLE.

Later that day, Gonzalez shared an update, expressing the need for assistance. We are looking for information regarding a young male of Hispanic or White descent. “Once a person is identified, the investigation will undergo a thorough review by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to determine if any charges are warranted,” he stated.

The status of the baby’s care is still uncertain, with no confirmation of whether they are still in the hospital or have been placed in foster care.

According to the Houston Chronicle, in Texas, parents have the option to leave unwanted babies at hospitals or fire stations without facing charges for abandonment or neglect, as long as the babies are safe and unharmed.
