Biloxi, MS: A mother has been charged with capital murder after her 5-month-old child’s autopsy revealed that the cause of death was blunt force trauma, according to police.

Police have announced that Summer Rose Hill, 20, has been charged in connection with the tragic homicide of an infant.

Despite the circumstances, Takavian Keivon Gibbs, 21, has not had the charges against him upgraded. He continues to face one count of child abuse.

Hill and Gibbs were arrested and charged last week following an incident where they brought a deceased infant to Merit Health Hospital, according to authorities.

Authorities responded to the hospital at 12:51 p.m. Staff members informed them that Summer Rose Hill, 20, and Takavian Keivon Gibbs, 21, had arrived at the emergency room with their deceased five-month-old child. During a routine examination, medical staff discovered multiple injuries that indicated signs of abuse.

Officials have deemed the child’s death as suspicious, with medical staff reporting that the infant had multiple injuries consistent with abuse during the initial examination. The couple was booked into the Harrison County jail late Thursday by the police.

A Biloxi couple has been arrested and is facing charges of child abuse. Each of them was issued a bond worth $500,000. An autopsy was conducted on the infant on Tuesday.

Hill is currently being held without bond on a charge of capital murder. Child abuse is a heinous crime that tragically resulted in a murder in this case as reported by Sun Herald.

According to the police, the investigation into Gibbs is still ongoing and there is a possibility of additional charges, although the current charges have not been upgraded.
