Indiana Trooper Dead after Crash involving Stolen Car; Missouri Resident Takes Plea Deal for The Offence

A plea agreement has been reached by a passenger involved in the tragic incident where an Indiana state trooper was hit and killed by a stolen vehicle in June 2023.

A deal for Demareon Curry, 19, was accepted by the judge on Tuesday.

Curry, a resident of Missouri, was a passenger in a stolen vehicle involved in a tragic incident on June 29, 2023. The incident occurred in Hendricks County and resulted in the unfortunate death of Trooper Aaron Smith following a pursuit.

The driver of the car, Eddie Jones, who is also from Missouri, is still facing charges, including murder. Investigators have previously stated that he deliberately struck Smith with the stolen SUV.

According to online jail records, Curry is currently facing charges of resisting law enforcement. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Curry in June.

Prosecutors continue to pursue a life without parole sentence for Jones. The trial is scheduled for October 15.
