Indiana Task Force 1 Shifts Operations from Florida to Georgia in Response to Hurricane Helene
An 80-member team was mobilized by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Indiana Task Force 1 was deployed to Florida on the very day it was mobilized. This happened on last Tuesday.
The team made it to Florida just ahead of Hurricane Helene’s arrival. Since Helene struck, Indiana Task Force 1 has been actively assisting local residents and authorities.
Indiana Task Force 1 shared in a series of tweets that they were first deployed to the panhandle of Florida. The initial task took place in Suwanee County, Florida.
Indiana Task Force 1 extended its support to Lafayette County, Florida, as well as Treasure Island, situated off the coast of St. Petersburg.
The latest update on X reveals that the team has successfully finished all of its designated tasks in Florida. The team has made the move from The Sunshine State to northern Georgia.
The Associated Press reports that Hurricane Helene significantly affected several states in the southeastern U.S., such as Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia.
Alongside the extensive flooding and destruction that has been documented, reports indicate that the death toll from Hurricane Helene has reached 84.
