Authorities in Muncie responded to a residence on High Street in May regarding a distressing incident involving child abuse.
Upon the officer’s arrival, two females were waiting in the parking lot across the street, as stated in the police report.
According to the officer, a woman presented him with a video showing Shreves repeatedly holding a lit lighter to her daughter’s hand. A distressing incident involving a young child has come to light, as a video captures the child expressing pain and the alleged perpetrator causing harm multiple times.
In the video, another girl can be seen spraying perfume on the girl’s hand, which causes the flame to spread more quickly. The prosecutor’s office has informed 13News that charges will be filed against the individual responsible for applying the perfume to the child’s hand.
According to the police report, the 17-year-old would leave the house while the little girl was locked in her room alone.
In a shocking and deeply troubling incident, the teenager is accused of covering her daughter’s face with a pillow while engaging in sexual activity in the same bed as per WTHR News.
According to the report, the teenager claimed that she was merely playing a prank by setting her daughter’s hand on fire. According to reports, she reportedly informed an officer that she was merely holding the child while others were involved in the unfortunate incident of burning her daughter.
Based on the police report, the young girl was placed in the care of a distant relative. Shreves’ initial hearing is scheduled for July 22.
