A large group of over 2,000 high school seniors decided to skip class and gather at the Nassau County beach, resulting in a chaotic scene by 6 p.m.
There were various incidents that took place, including a physical altercation, the discharge of firearms, and students engaging in inappropriate behavior on a police vehicle, as reported by sources and captured on video.
According to sources, a shooting occurred at the train station, resulting in one teen being injured. Two teens were taken into custody on Thursday night in connection with the incident.
A gun was also found by the police at the scene. The condition and identity of the victim were not immediately available.
Authorities were also observed attending to a nearby pizzeria, potentially in reaction to a physical altercation.
Law enforcement in the city of 35,000 requested assistance from Nassau County police to handle the large crowd.
