Idaho Prosecutors Seeking Death Penalty for Man Convicted of Murder during Armed Robbery as Suspect Retract Guilty Plea
Idaho Falls, ID- A man facing murder charges in Idaho has decided to retract his guilty plea, prompting the state to reinstate the death penalty due to additional felony charges.
A 23-year-old man named Lance Broncho is facing serious charges, including assault and introducing contraband, at a correctional facility.
In March, Broncho was charged with several serious felonies, including first-degree murder of Eric Leask and aggravated battery.
In the murder case, a plea agreement was reached in June, with the prosecution agreeing to recommend life in prison instead of pursuing the death penalty.
After facing new felony charges, Broncho decided to withdraw his guilty plea on July 11. Bonneville County prosecutor Randy Neal has stated that the state has refiled the case with the intention of pursuing the death penalty against Broncho.
Broncho voluntarily relinquished his right to a speedy trial on July 22.
