Husband Stabbed Wife, Herndon Cop Shot Husband in attempt to Save the Wife in Virginia

Herndon, VA: A Police Officer shot a man following reports that he had stabbed his wife in Herndon. The incident happened on Sunday.

A woman who had been stabbed by her husband contacted the Herndon Police Department just before noon to report the incident.

According to authorities, the man approached the responding officer while brandishing the knife as he was still inside the residence located in the 900 block of First Place.

According to the police, the cop proceeded to shoot the knife-yielding suspect in the upper body.

The couple was taken to Reston Hospital in critical condition, according to a news release from the authorities.

The suspect is recovering in the intensive care unit after surgery, and the woman is stable, according to Herndon police.

Police reported the family’s dog was stabbed as well; however, there has been no word on their condition since they were taken to a veterinary clinic. Officials have stated that no cops were injured during the incident.

The entire thing shocked a lot of people in the area. A neighboring woman expressed her shock and dismay at the turn of events, saying that she had always had cordial contact with the couple. The cop who fired the shot is currently out on paid administrative leave.

It is not clear what charges will the husband face after he stabbed his wife as per NBC4.
