Hot Car Chase Ended After Armed Driver Shot by Cops in Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA: On Friday, LAPD arrested a car thief suspect after a hot chase throughout the city. The chase ended when the suspected car thief was shot by the cops. The suspect was taken to the hospital.
LAPD says the chase began around 12:15 p.m. in the Pico-Union neighborhood, near Washington Boulevard and Vermont Avenue when police saw a stolen pickup.
The pickup driver weaved between cars during the chase and hit some of them.
After twenty minutes, the suspect crashed into a stopped van in the 1200 block of Paloma Street in the Garment District of downtown L.A. He then got out of the truck and ran away on foot, with police following closely behind.
A witness later said that the suspect had a large gun when he ran into the alley.
A lot of police officers rushed to the scene, and minutes later, paramedics rolled the suspect out of a building on a gurney. The condition of the man when he got to the nearby hospital is unknown.
Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) would only say that they shot the suspect, who was possibly around 30 years old. A police spokesperson said that no cops were hurt. The investigation kept the streets around the scene closed late in the afternoon.
