Homeless Encampment Cleared in LA; Moved To Houses as per Inside Safe Program
Los Angeles, CA: Poinsettia Park in the Fairfax area was cleared of homeless camps, and dozens of people were given places to stay.
These were the 35th group of encampments taken down in Los Angeles as part of Mayor Karen Bass’s Inside Safe program.
The people have been in that park for more than a decade. Now 35 persons were given shelter under the Inside Safe Program.
“Yesterday’s Inside Safe operation will greatly improve the quality of life for those formerly unhoused individuals who moved inside,” Los Angeles City Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky said. “It also restores a sense of security and well-being for the larger Poinsettia Park community, who have been impacted for several years,” she added.
More than 2,000 homeless Angelenos have been able to find housing through the Inside Safe program in just over a year.
“We must continue to operate with urgency and help bring unhoused Angelenos inside as quickly as possible,” said Mayor Karen Bass. “Thousands of Angelenos have been helped so far. This is a matter of life and death. Being inside is better than being outside.”
