High-Speed Police Chase in Kentucky: Two Arrested after Multi-County Pursuit after Alleged Shoplifting Incident
Powderly, KENTUCKY-
Two individuals have been apprehended following an incident of suspected shoplifting that escalated into a high-speed pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
Kentucky State Police (KSP) reported that the Muhlenberg County dispatch received a call from the Central City Walmart regarding an incident of shoplifting involving two individuals.
A police pursuit ensues as authorities attempt to apprehend a silver 2019 Toyota Camry near Powderly on the Kentucky 189 Bypass.
A thrilling pursuit unfolded across multiple counties, taking place on a total of eight different roadways.
The pursuit came to a halt when law enforcement employed a “legal intervention maneuver” as the Camry veered into oncoming traffic on the Kentucky 189 Bypass, driving in the wrong direction.
KSP has confirmed the identities of the individuals involved in the Camry accident. The driver has been identified as Sean D. Stratton, aged 36, from Russellville. The passenger has been identified as Selexus C. Zamperla, aged 28, from Madisonville. They were both apprehended and placed in the Muhlenberg County Jail.
Stratton was charged with:
- Speeding 26 MPH or greater
- First-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle)
- First-degree possession of a controlled substance, second offense (methamphetamine)
- First-degree operating motor vehicle under the influence (aggravated circumstances)
- Drug paraphernalia
- First-degree wanton endangerment (police officer)
- First-degree criminal mischief
- Improperly on left side of road
- Reckless driving
- Theft by unlawful taking over $500
Zamperla was charged with:
- Public intoxication
- Theft by unlawful taking over $500
