High-Speed Chase Ended after 2 Hours in Encinitas; Homicide Suspect Arrested by CHP

San Diego, California: The California Highway Patrol chased a murder suspect on southbound Interstate 5. The furious chase happened on Thursday morning.

The high-speed chase ended in San Diego County after the CHP chased the car to the Los Angeles region. The officers started the chase at around 9 am when they received a tip that a murder suspect was in a gray Honda Civic on the road. Police also received the tip that the suspect was also armed.

The Highway Patrol officers started following the individual after they located the suspect as per the information.

The chase continued for about 1 and a half hours and ended at around 10:45 a.m. when the driver turned off I-5 onto a side street. According to the CHP, officers used a pit maneuver to stop the sedan on the Birmingham Drive on-ramp as the driver tried to enter the northbound lanes.

They arrested the suspect, who was in the car’s passenger seat. No other information was immediately available about the event that sparked the chase and the suspect.

The Civic was reportedly traveling on the interstate at speeds close to 150 miles per hour during the chase, according to CHP. During the pursuit, the suspect was also observed throwing objects from the car onto the road to stop the police from chasing him.

The CHP arrested the suspect. The authorities have not revealed any other information such as the identity of the arrested individual and the charges pressed on him.
