An Oak Brook police officer observed a vehicle exceeding the speed limit near the 22nd Street and Midwest Road intersection in the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 27, as reported by the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office.

The driver allegedly accelerated and disregarded traffic regulations, reaching a speed of 70 mph in a 35 mph zone. Eventually, another officer successfully immobilized the car by puncturing its tires at Spring Road and 31st Street.

The driver, later identified as Quinton Hicks, 38, of Chicago, reportedly persisted in driving on flat tires and eventually entered I-294, where he accelerated to 80 mph before his car became disabled in Northlake.

Hicks was subsequently apprehended and escorted to a nearby medical facility following his disclosure to the authorities regarding his recent consumption of ecstasy. During the search of Hicks’ vehicle, officers found a loaded handgun in the glove compartment.

Hicks faces charges of armed habitual criminal, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer, as well as several misdemeanor and petty traffic offenses. Mark your calendars for his upcoming court appearance on Monday, Feb. 26.
