Head-On Car Crash Claimed Lives of Two, Police Looking for the 3rd Suspect
Elizabeth, New Jersey: On Monday morning, two cars collided at a red light. The collision resulted in the death of two people. The accident happened on Monday morning.
One taxi driver and his passenger were killed in the crash. The identity of the driver is confirmed but that of the passenger is not disclosed yet.
Police briefed that a Hyundai car ran a red light and head-on collided with the taxi. The taxi driver, Carlos, 54, died along with his passenger.
Three people in the Hyundai reportedly fled the scene, but two were taken into custody by the police. According to the police, they are actively hunting for that person. The accident was recorded in the dash cam and it has been recovered by the police.
At the intersection of East Grand and Spring Streets, loved ones erected a temporary memorial to honor the memory of taxi driver Juan Carlos.
Carlos, 54, moved to Elizabeth 26 years ago after leaving Ecuador and has long been a taxi driver.
