Girl Spends Birthday Raising $3K for Police K-9 Unit: ‘Hometown Hero’

June 6, 2022: Kaley Bastine celebrated her 10th birthday by raising money for the police department’s canine helpers.

She raised over $3K for the New Kensington Pennsylvania Police. She specifically raised funds for Max, a Belgian Malinois, and Officer Jerry Hook, the dog’s handler.

“I’ve been wanting to do another fundraiser, so I picked it on my birthday.” Her novel thought and kind gesture received a lot of praise and attention.

She hosted a playful event that had live music, food trucks, and raffles. The community showed up. The girl donned a pink swimsuit and sunglasses.

Her family is very supportive of her initiatives, and with her family’s help, she raised over $40K over the past few years.

Kaley is praised by many for her initiatives that help the community and law enforcement. Her mother shared the success of the event on her social media platform.
