Monroe County, GA – A 67-year-old Chick-fil-A employee who survived a car crash in Georgia met a tragic fate when she fell into a hidden deep well while trying to seek help, authorities confirmed.
Shirley Obert vanished after crashing her car in Monroe County, just outside Atlanta, on Saturday morning, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities issued alerts urging local residents to be on the lookout for Obert, who was last seen wearing her red Chick-fil-A uniform at the time of the crash.
Nearly 24 hours later, officials provided a heartbreaking update.
“The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has located Mrs Shirley Obert. It is not the outcome that we were hoping for,” they said.

“She was found deceased at the bottom of a deep well that was surrounded by very thick brush, near where her car was found.”
“Mrs. Obert appeared to have been trying to go for help when this incident occurred. This appears to be a tragic accident,” the sheriff’s office added.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, and the community has been asked to keep Obert’s loved ones in their thoughts.
