Gang Leader Arrested on Homicide Charges of Rival Gang Member in Texas, Also Coordinated Street-Gang Operations
Tyler, TX: The authorities in Texas have arrested a 57-year-old man who allegedly ordered the members of an “outlaw motorcycle gang” to kill a rival gang member. The actions resulted in a man’s death in May 2020, according to authorities.
A week after the arrest of the National Sergeant at Arms, 57-year-old Kevin Higgins of Kemp was apprehended on the same allegations. According to the arrest affidavit, Higgins is named as the National President of the Ugly Man Cossacks.
Authorities say the two guys were involved in coordinating a street gang’s operations. The National Sergeant at Arms, Chad Crowell, allegedly held a meeting in the fall of 2019 and ordered his subordinates to “put him down” if they encountered members of the 1%er Cossacks, a “rival gang,” according to his affidavit.
“Each ‘club’ claiming to be the’real Cossacks,'” the document says, which is one reason for the rivalry. Gang members knew that the order came from Higgins, even though Crowell gave it as per KETK News.
Brandon Edwards, who was a Sergeant at Arms for the 1%er Cossacks, was found shot to death off FM 850 in Chapel Hill in May 2020 by Smith County police. Three members of the Ugly Man Cossacks were initially arrested in connection with his death.
Since then, all three men have been found guilty of organized crime related to the case. There is a $2.5 million bond on Higgins’ release from the Smith County Jail.
