Fugitive and Drug Dealer Sentenced to 25 Years in Federal Prison in North Carolina

A man is convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prison for his part in a plot to distribute crack, cocaine, and fentanyl sourced from Honduras and Mexico in eastern North Carolina.

The drug dealer reportedly boasted to investigators that he was the “biggest” drug dealer in Robeson County. The convicted man is identified as Bruce Carroll Callahan.

Callahan stated that he always had access to over 20 kg of drugs, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

Before entering a guilty plea on September 26, 2023, and while awaiting trial, 45-year-old Callahan escaped from Piedmont Regional Jail in Farmville, Virginia.

On May 1, 2023, he was reported missing. A few kilometers from the jail, on May 9, 2023, he was found. As a result of his prison break conviction, Callahan received a sentence of 20 months in jail and three years of supervised release.

Authorities claimed that Callahan entered a guilty plea to two counts of possessing a handgun in furtherance of a narcotics trafficking offense, conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, and crack, and possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of a fentanyl combination.

On the rear seat of Callahan’s car, investigators discovered the two kilograms of fentanyl. Following the execution of a search warrant at Callahan’s home, a handgun, materials used to package drugs for sale, and a significant amount of cocaine and cocaine base were discovered.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Caroline Webb handled the case’s prosecution after the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, the Lumberton Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives all conducted investigations into it.

The authorities are working to bust more members from his network.
