Former Vermont Governor Candidate Arrested for Violating Anti-Stalking Order: Authorities
A candidate who had previously finished in third place in the most recent elections for the position of governor in Vermont has filed a plea of not guilty for allegedly breaking an anti-stalking order.
Kevin Hoyt, who is 52 years old, was taken into custody by the Fair Haven Police Department on July 4 near Route 22A, according to a recent news item. In response to an anonymous tip, the police made the arrest.
In the year 2022, he has been accused of frequently violating a no-stalking order, which has resulted in misdemeanor charges being brought against him on each time.
Hoyt is prohibited from having any kind of contact with Christopher Bates, who once served as a state representative for Bennington, as a result of a restraining order that has been filed. Communication in this context encompasses face-to-face encounters, telephone calls, written correspondence, and online channels, including social media platforms.
It has been decided that Hoyt will appear in court on September 9th. He might receive a maximum term of one year in prison for each count if he is proven guilty.
When it came to independent candidates running for governor in both the years 2020 and the year 2022, he received the highest number of votes as reported by Bennington Banner
