Former Sheriff’s Deputy Arrested on Molestation Charges in Mississippi

Jackson, MS: The authorities reported that a former Sheriff’s Deputy in Adams County has been arrested and charged with inappropriately touching a minor.

On April 12, Carl Champlin was reportedly brought into prison, as stated in a news statement. In his long career as a law enforcement officer with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, the 70-year-old served under the leadership of the late sheriffs Tommy Ferrell and Ronny Brown at various points in his career.

Because the investigation is still underway, the current sheriff, Travis Patten, was unable to reveal a great deal of information.

“Sheriff Patten states that the investigation is still ongoing and more charges may come at a later date,” a portion of the release reads. “Sheriff Patten went on to say that he did not want to release too many details about the case, due to the sensitive nature of the crime.”

The bond for Champlin was set at $75,000, and he was immediately placed in the Adams County jail.
