Florida Woman arrested after she kidnapped 2-year-old child from neighborhood in Okaloosa County

According to authorities, a woman from Florida is facing abduction charges after allegedly locking herself and her neighbor’s toddler in her apartment.

The 52-year-old Kim Keeling was formally charged by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office with kidnapping and interference with child custody.

Around 11:20 a.m. on Friday, Keeling allegedly took her neighbor’s two-year-old child, locked herself and the youngster in her apartment, and then refused to give the child back, according to the neighbor’s account relayed to deputies.

The mother of the child, who lives in the neighborhood, tried to get in touch with her daughter by breaking a window.

Despite the arrival of a deputy, Keeling disregarded his requests that the youngster be returned.

A worried deputy scaled the shattered window to find the mother in her living room, clutching a rolling pin and her small child.

The kidnapping led to Keeling’s arrest. Okaloosa County Jail is holding her without bond.

According to the sheriff’s office, the incident did not injure the child.

While trying to prevent the youngster from falling down the outdoor stairs, Keeling removed the child from the mother’s arms, according to authorities.

Neighbors said that the woman is mentally ill and suffers from Depression. She may have done it with no intent to harm the child but to have the kid as a constant companion.
