Florida School Employee Accused of Molestation Charges Found Dead from Self-inflicted Gunshot Wounds
Miami Lakes, FL: An incident occurred involving an IT employee at a public school in Miami-Dade County, resulting in his death after being arrested on molestation charges. This information has been confirmed by the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday.
Thomas Steinkamp, Chief of Investigative Services, confirmed to Local 10 News that Martin Zaretsky, who was from Tamarac, passed away on Monday. He was in his fifties.
Deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office were called to the 8100 block of Northwest 103rd Avenue at 6:22 a.m. on Monday. They discovered Zaretsky with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Unfortunately, he was declared deceased at the location.
According to jail records, Zaretsky was taken into custody and brought to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on April 8. He is facing charges related to inappropriate conduct with a child and offenses against students by authority figures.
As per the school’s website, Zaretsky was employed in the IT department at the Bob Graham K-8 Education Center in Miami Lakes.
An arrest report obtained by Local 10 News revealed that Zaretsky allegedly attempted to pursue a romantic relationship with multiple students and inappropriately touched them over their clothing.
According to the report, the school employee allegedly touched the students inappropriately and engaged in text message exchanges with two of the victims.
Authorities reported multiple incidents where Zaretsky would wait for the victims after school and escort them to his office, offering them candy.
